Sometimes all you need for full happiness is a sunny Saturday morning with cool breeze, a cup of coffee and birds singing – today was such morning for me. I don’t know why but for some reason it brought me much happiness. It also reminded me (for some reason which I don’t quite understand) my childhood in Poland (for those of you who don’t know: I left my home country when I was 17 and ever since I try to find my new home). Yes…the years of childhood are the best for everyone I guess; these are the times when your only concern or problem is to find new ways how to piss of your parents, how to sneak out with friends to have a beer (even though all of you are underage) or to come up with a new excuse for a teacher why you didn’t do you homework (sick? no! done too many times…. death of a member of a family?…no, already ‘killed’ everyone, etc).

The funny thing is that your kids will do exactly the same things as you did when you were their age and they will end up doing the same mistakes you did but there is no way to prevent them or even effectively warn them from doing them. Sometimes they have to learn on their own mistakes – that’s the only way. Hey! Do you remember when your mother and your father warned you not to do it but you still did it? Have you learned from it? Have you done it again since then? No. Why am I writing about it? I have no idea. After all, I don’t have my own children yet. I think this little recollection tells us one thing: the world around us might be much simpler than we think (at least in some cases); it is just like 1-2-3-4, one step after another…it’s a circle that repeats itself…you learned on your own mistakes, your children will learn on their mistakes, and children of your children, etc. There is no way to prevent them from doing some things (unless we tie them down to a heater, but then it would be a very bad parenting).
